Brown Bag Bible Study - The Messianic Funnel

Pastor Cosmas is holding a Brown Bag Bible Study on Tuesdays at Noon in the fellowship hall beginning June 4th . Bring your bagged lunch and inquiring mind. We are taking up the Jesus’ Bible and the time between the testaments.

Summary - We journeyed through the Old Testament in our first two semesters (recordings are not available). There we witnessed the historical, theological and literary narrative of God's people. I have called Jesus' Bible. Our first two semesters demonstrated how this overarching narrative formed the Hebrew Bible. This is the story Jesus knew. Hence, the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament constituted what I've called, Jesus' Bible. The Messianic Funnel is the final in our series. Here, we see how the early church funneled 14 Old Testament themes through Christ. We observe what Jesus 'did' with each theme and how he shaped, modified and 'fulfilled' each of them. Jesus is the Eternal Word & FINAL interpreter of Holy Scripture (Jn 1:1; Mk 9:7 & Mt 17:5) and the Holy Spirit is our paraclete, communicator and guide. (Jn 14:10-11, 15-ff). The Crossways materials, created and developed by Dr. H.N. Wendt provide the foundation for the thesis.
